The project would support the rehabilitation, expansion and upgrading of national highways along the priority sections of the GMS.  This will improve transport efficient and reduce travel time.  This will also provide institutional strengthening for the effective implementation and supervision of the project activities.

The Asian Development Bank will contribute a loan for this project in the amount of approximately US$ 80 million from its ordinary capital resources.
